A 100 percent biodegradable material has been developed by Finland's national centre for technical research (VTT). This material has strong formability and coloring property and is suitable for furniture application. It is an attractive substitute for wood and various kinds of biological composite materials in the market.
VTT, head of the research team, said the new material of the first product is made from the VTT and Plastec Finland production design office chair together. The chair is made from wood cellulose fibers, polylactic acid, and bio-based additives using traditional composite injection molding techniques.
