Starbucks announced last week that it plans to stop using single-use plastic straws in all of its stores by 2020, and seven other multinational groups have announced that they will stop using single-use plastic straws and replace them with biodegradable plastic straws. As of 2016, there were at least 150 million tons of plastic in the ocean. Starbucks estimates that more than one billion fewer plastic straws will be used in its 28,000 stores across the United States each year when it launches its current program.

So what are these companies going to replace plastic straws with, including starbucks?
